Use of Small Wool Pots

Small wool pots are practical, natural containers that can be used for seed raising, propagation and small indoor plants. Made from wool fibres, they provide gentle insulation around plant roots and can help retain moisture while still allowing air to circulate. They are especially useful for starting herbs, flowers and vegetable seedlings before transplanting them into a garden bed, larger pot or planter. As wool is biodegradable, the small wool pots can be planted directly into the soil, where the roots can grow through the material as it gradually breaks down. This reduces transplant shock and avoids the need to remove young plants from plastic containers. For best results, place the pot on a tray, fill it with quality seed-raising mix, water it lightly and keep it in a bright position suited to the plant. Check moisture levels regularly, as small pots can dry out quickly, particularly in warm or windy conditions. Small wool pots are a simple, low-waste option for gardeners who want to reduce plastic use while giving young plants a healthy start.
